Welcome

Someone once said that photography is a passion not a hobby and so it has become for me. I am learning something new and interesting every day and my blog and photographs will serve as a record of my experiences and continuing journey. I hope those viewing this site will find something in either my writing or my photographs that they can identify with, or have a real emotional connection to. Thank you for stopping by, I hope you will return again soon!

‘You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.’

– Ansel Adams

You just have to live and life will give you pictures. - Henri Cartier-Bresson

I am a passionate amateur photographer who now has the time to ‘stand and stare’. I live in a beautiful market town in the East of England and as both my daughters are now immersed in creative lives of their own, it is finally ‘me’ time. My journey into the exciting world of digital photography began four years ago. Since then I have learned a great deal from so many talented photographers who have continually inspired me to be the best I can. I feel I have finally found the creativity that alluded me during my busy working years. Photography lifts my spirits, challenges my thinking and pushes my learning to another level. I am gratefully obsessed!

‘Does not the very word ‘creative’ mean to build, to initiate, to give out, to act – rather than to be acted upon, to be subjective? Living photography is positive in its approach, it sings a song of life – not death’

– Berenice Abbott

I am a member of both Saffron Walden and Cambridge Camera Clubs and I am continually inspired by many of the members who are ‘living’ photography in a similar way to me and for their help and continued encouragement I am extremely grateful.

Finally I would like to say a public thank you to my daughter Kate for setting up this website. I couldn’t have done it without her!
